Good article on why their is ignorance about the good guns can do:

The FBI estimates guns are only brandished or actually used 1.5+
million times a year to stop crimes, and of this, 150,000 lives are
saved a year. That is, about ten times as many lives are saved using
guns in self-defense as are saved using seat belts.

Seems that anti-gun types should be arguing seat belts are dangerous
because they trap people in burning cars, or something. I mean that is
the kind of reasoning they use.
